Testing

Subsystem testing was performed first to show which would clean the wheels better, a squeegee or brush subsystem.

Then, the testing prototype was used to test against our original specifications.

A wheelchair was rolled through flour, and each subsystem was run over a wheel section. The percentage reflected in the graph is about how much flour was removed after the subsystem cleaned the wheel’s section.

During testing, the flour fell onto the wheel due to the positioning of the subsystems. This proved that the placement of the cleaning subsystem needed to be in the lower back section of the wheel so that debris would not fall back onto it.

Testing the Prototype

Using qualitative measurements, we tested our prototype as a whole with the support system and lever, then we tested just the cleaning subsystem. On average, the product performed better with the dry surfaces rather than the wet.

Trials 1-5 were testing the product as a whole, then trials 6-10 were testing the cleaning subsystem.

Specifications

Based on our other specifications, we performed pass or fail tests on the product.
